Organization Details

The English Opens Doors Program of the Chilean Ministry of Education and supported by the UNDP aims to increase the English proficiency of Chilean students and teachers of English to increase Chile's global competitiveness.  One initiative is to bring native and near-native English speakers, between the ages of 21 and 35 years, into Chilean public schools as Volunteer English Teaching Assistants to develop the listening and speaking skills of students.

Impact Story

The English Opens Doors Program has brought over 1,900 volunteers to Chile over the past 10 years, and positively impacted over 250,000 students as well as hundreds of teachers and school communities. Starting in 2015, the Program will be at the forefront of Chile's historic educational reform, working to strengthen the public school system.
