Organization Details

Women Peacemakers is a local Cambodian organization dedicated to protecting women from violence through transforming attitudes and behaviors.

Vision: A peaceful, just and democratic society where women and children fully exercise their rights.
Mission: To empower Cambodians, especially women and youth, to build peace, promote justice, uphold democracy and protect human rights.
Goal: To see that Cambodian communities are fully equipped and inspired to advocate for the protection of their rights and work as peaceful agents for social change.

We work to educate, train, and empower rural communities, youth, and  urban poor in three areas: women's rights, conflict transformation, and active non-violence.

Impact Story

This is the story of one of our participants, a 63 year old, Cham Muslim man from Tbong Khmum Province:

Before learning with WPM, I thought that women had no rights at all. After learning, I discovered that women have the same rights as men, and that women are as clever as men too. Women can do everything that men can do. I gave more value to women than before.

After learning, my thinking about society changed as well, I encourage all girls in this village to study for a higher degree, so that society can develop more, with women getting higher education. When women have got higher knowledge, women's rights will be upgraded and society will understand more about situations of women.
