Proyecto Agua Segura
Organization Details
Proyecto Agua Segura is a social enterprise from Argentina founded in 2015 with a purpose: achieving safe water for everybody. We started out working with water filtration technology and ended up co-creating -by articulating with the social, private and public sectors- a social enterprise that answers to the main environmental and social challenges related to water. And we did it through an economically sustainable model designed in an innovative, collaborative and committed way.
Impact Story
Nicolas is a 31 years old, Argentinian doctor. During his medical residence he saw lots of children with diseases caused mostly by the vulnerable conditions they were living in, and the lack of access to safe water.
Passionate about changing the world, he decided to look for tools to prevent diseases caused by the use of untreated water. His commitment to health led him to build a social enterprise that brings concrete solutions to the social and environmental problems of water. He found technology totally capable of turning contaminated water into safe water. These water filters were chemical free and did not require electrical power or any batteries. Convinced that technology had a huge potential to change lives if you implemented them through an integral approach, he founded Proyecto Agua Segura, a social enterprise (B corp) that brings concrete solutions to the water crisis. This Project works with rural, peri-urban and urban schools, community centers and homes that don't have access to safe water and sanitation.
It ́s mission is to bring closer actual solutions to water crisis developing solutions that combine technology, education and articulation, contributing to the development of sustainable communities.
Once in territory, he detected that there was much more to be done. Work the water sources, generating new ones where the resource is almost non-existent and protecting the natural sources in places where the water naturally emerges in the middle of nature. Developing a team for infrastructure projects, researching the different technologies environmentally friendly and community work was one of the challenges.
Proyecto Agua Segura has managed to transform the lives of more than 100,000 people, in 2800 rural schools and community centers and more than 3200 scattered homes in 6 countries of Latam and scale up in Europe. He has taught us that there are no borders when it comes to transforming people's lives.
