Organization Details

CycleUp Textiles is a circular economy social enterprise that upcycles textiles in to luxurious bag, gifts and homeware. Whilst protecting the environment by saving textiles from landfill we also provide a safe and empowering space for women, especially those from marginalised backgrounds in Co. Roscommon to develop skills and build confidence to enable them to find meaningful employment and help with rural social isolation.

Impact Story

CycleUp Textiles was started by a group of volunteers from the Roscommon Women's Network charity shop who asked the question - Where do all the clothes we can not use in the shop go to? Shocked by the answer they were determined to change this and started to upcycle the textiles and sell them. Since then CycleUp textiles has grown as a circular economy social enterprise and now trains, empowers and employs women, particularly from marginalised backgrounds from around Co Roscommon in meaningful employment as well as having it;s own volunteer groups and training that seek to not only help women to gain new skills but aid in combatting rural social isolation.

As well as having a positive impact on the lives of women around the county, having grown  the social enterprise we now have employed 9 people in Athleague who design, create and produce beautiful upcycled bags, homeware and gifts to an extremely high standard and allows us to save textile waste going to landfill. We sell our products online and in stores and have won the RDS award for Rural Social Impact.
