Organization Details
Amicitia is an award-winning hybrid social enterprise based in Athenry, County Galway, Ireland. This is a multidisciplinary practice that develops place-based economic, social, and cultural strategies to promote rural regeneration and facilitate a just transition to a low-carbon economy.
Amicitia operates a vibrant social hub that hosts key community projects, including:
- Assistive technologies for the social care sector

- Biodiversity projects
- Socially engaged arts practice
Additionally, Amicitia provides sustainability-focused education and consultancy services across Ireland. Our core expertise lies in co-designing projects and strategies collaboratively with organisations and residents.
Impact Story
Amicitia is the Latin for friendship and it is in the spirit of friendship that we work alongside the community of Athenry, Co. Galway. Our projects are collaborative and intentional with a deep appreciation of our troubled times. We specialise in elevating diverse voices, including those of people with criminal convictions, migrants, older persons, and individuals with disabilities.
