Organization Details
Orphans, Youths, Aged and Women Initiative (OYAWI) was established in 2019 and registered in 2020 by NGO-Coordination Board of Kenya. It operates in the counties of Nairobi, Kajiado, Siaya, Homa Bay and Kakamega. The main aim of its establishment is to educate, inspire and empower the vulnerable members of the society to decide and participate in development activities in our areas of jurisdiction.
The objective of our organization is to empower and boost orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs), youth, elderly and women across communities to learn and understand their rights hence undertake income generating activities for self-sufficiency and sustainability. Our organization will partner and sensitize the communities on how to respond to climate change positively and initiate environmental conservation measures, ensuring eco-friendly environment devoid of pollution.
Impact Story
Our organization has been making a positive impact in the communities that we serve. We have impacted over 600 girls and over 1200 orphans and vulnerable children where we provide food staff and other humanitarian items. The organization is keen on climate action and to this extent we have sensitized community members on climate change and ways to mitigate and reduce carbon dioxide emission. So far, we have planted over 5,000 environmental friendly tree seedlings.
Currently, the organization through its innovative projects train the youths on agripreneurship and green economy which creates jobs to youth and women. So far, 100 youth and women have trained.
We have partnered with Taifa College of professional studies to give transformative skills for the out of school girls who are unable to afford education. The girls are trained on Hair Dressing, Dress making, Bakery and Food and Beverage Production. Currently, 40 girls are being trained.
