Tamul Plates Marketing Pvt. Ltd. (“Tamul”) is a 10-year old company that produces environmentally-friendly tableware (plates and bowls) made out of sturdy palm tree leaves. It’s a company, operating with the twin goals of creating positive social and environmental impact. It has received UNDP/UNEP (SEED Low Carbon Award 2013)- for working in North East India, producing and marketing biodegradable disposable dinnerware, through community-owned micro-enterprises spread across Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, and West Bengal.
Impact Story
In the last 10 years, Tamul has created a biodegradable disposable dinnerware which is ecofriendly and environmentally sustainable. The production model is such that, it generated employment in rural communities spread across North East India. In the process Tamul has created 5000 jobs for women and youth,promoted 250 micro-enterprises and partnered with 150 rural communities
