Centre for Climate Action, Innovation and Engagement
Organization Details
The Centre for Climate Action, Innovation, and Engagement (CCAIE) is a youth-led, community-focused organization. We work with diverse communities to develop and implement innovative, scalable solutions to pressing climate and development challenges from flood prevention and recovery, to desertification, heatwave, waste pollution and miseducation. We do this through storytelling, incubation of product/sftware based solution, research and data mining, community engagement, and policy advocacy. CCAIE focuses on understanding the unique climate challenges of vulnerable communities, building capacity among young Africans to lead sustainable development efforts, and advocating for policy changes that drive climate resilience and sustainable development across the continent.
Impact Story
We held a workshop titled Rising Voices for children between the ages of 6-15, using art as the medium of communication to explore what coastal cities like Lagos could look like by 2050. We have followed some of these children since then to see how their interest in climate change has grown. Some have maintained the trees they received during the workshops; others have developed a deeper interest in learning about climate change, while some have been plunged back into the harsh realities of everyday life once again. This is why we do what we do: to future-proof Africa's future by empowering young Africans, even if just one, with the right tools to reimagine what an industrialized, sustainable African society can and should look like.
