Organization Details

The mission of Maple Counseling is to provide low-cost comprehensive mental health services to individuals of all ages, couples, and families, and to provide training for graduate and postgraduate students who are working towards licensure in the mental health field.

Impact Story

Since its inception 50 years ago, Maple Counseling has helped over 300,000 people of all ages - from infants to the advanced elderly - to receive critical mental health services. Located in Los Angeles, Maple Counseling sees clients in-person at our center and via telehealth to individuals throughout California.

Maple Counseling provides programs and services to over 2,700 individuals each year. We offer ongoing counseling in a safe space for adults via individual, couples, and group sessions, as well as to children, teens, and families. Eligible clients may receive psychiatric services. In addition, Maple Counseling offers several school-based programs to students pre-K to 12th grade. Using evidence-based interventions, Maple Counseling guides our clients toward self-awareness and improved emotional coping, with the goal of having a productive and fuller life experience. Maple Counseling clients receive treatment for depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, stress, and relational problems, among other mental health needs.

At the same time, Maple Counseling is considered a premiere training institute in the field of mental health. All of our mental health services are provided by individuals working toward licensure in the state of California as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), and Psychologist (PhD, PsyD) who are under supervision of highly experienced licensed clinicians. We develop the next generation of mental health providers through a structured training program to approximately 105 masters and doctoral-level graduate students each year.

Maple Counseling’s dual mission — to serve clients and to train clinicians — allows us to leverage low-cost clinical time of interns and associates to provide high quality services that are accessible on a sliding fee scale. Our average fee is $25.00 per session and no one is turned away due to an inability to pay.
