Organization Details
It is philanthropic wing of Sugamya digital Solutions Pvt. Ltd. It is section 8 non-profit company registered under ministry of corporate affairs, Government of India. The company is working for empowerment of persons with disabilities and other social activities. which provides Assistive technology training, Accessible course material, Educational Guidance and counselling to students with disabilities. Inclusive Education training to university faculties, Accessibility sensitization for all the stakeholders of the university and affiliated colleges. The centre also conduct research on accessibility challenges of persons with disabilities.
Impact Story
This project will achieve short-term and long-term change for individuals with Print and learning Disabilities in India who wish to pursue higher education not only in Indian university but also other universities across globe. For advocacy organizations that focus on Print and learning Disabilities, and for the global movement to recognize and address Print and learning Disabilities.
In the short-term, our activities will demonstrate a model of delivery for accessible materials that will result in more people with Print and learning Disabilities in India, becoming aware of Book-share and utilizing reading tools and materials.
The long-term impact of this foundation work will be a much greater availability of accessible materials for people with Print and learning Disabilities worldwide, which will lead to a greater level of access to information for Colleges and Universities, job training programs, pleasure reading, and other areas where the written word is crucial to participation. This increased access to information will create greater social equity, allowing people with disabilities to participate more fully in society and have greater opportunities.
In addition to directly serving individuals, our work will provide much needed support to other organizations that focus on Print and learning Disabilities. When advocacy organizations can present information that both raises awareness of problems and provides a roadmap to improvement, it is much easier to gain acceptance and begin to solve problems.
Bookshare is a critical piece of the roadmap forward for those with Print and learning Disabilities around the world, and, as a collaborator in the movement, we can greatly help the advocacy organizations make progress.
