Organization Details

UNIVERSAL MAIDENS ASSOCIATION CAMEROON (UNIMAC)  is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering women and girls in Cameroon.

Established in 2020 and obtained legal status in 2021, UNIMAC works to improve the lives of women through education, advocacy, and skills training programs.

Our mission is to promote gender equality, eliminate discrimination, and support the personal and professional development of women and girls.

With a strong focus on community engagement and partnerships, UNIMAC strives to create a more equitable society where women have the resources and support they need to thrive.

Impact Story

-WOMEN’S EMPOWERMENT: By advocating for gender-sensitive policy planning, programming, and implementation that will stimulate Maiden’s integration and socio-economic advancement, so far, we have                             

 -designed gender policies and prepared due diligence documents for the organization

-Carry out gender transformative workshops with community stakeholders and local council representatives in selected communities in the North West, Center, and South West regions of Cameroon.

 

-WOMENS’RIGHTS PROMOTION: By promoting and protecting the fundamental rights of women and addressing gender-based violence at all levels. 

- Conduct sensitization and awareness raising on Human Rights promotion, GBV     in communities of Santa, Tubah, Bamenda 1, II, and III and Belo subdivisions.

- We have raised awareness for women and community leaders on National normative frameworks for women like the Constitution of Cameroon, the penal code, and other international documents like UDHR, CEDAW, ICCPR, ICESCR, and the MAPUTO Protocol.

-GENDER AND HEALTH: By advocating for the provision of adequate healthcare for women and children and addressing issues relating to women and girl’s sexual and reproductive health

 -We have an OVC and elderly care and support component where we assist IDPs, orphans, widows, the elderly, and vulnerable persons in need, so far we have assisted 5 critically sick persons with medical bills, provided food assistance to over 200 IDPs in affected villages in Buea and Bamenda since 2021 and provided dresses and other non-food items to over 100 elderly and Orphans in Bafut and Belo sub- Divisions

- GENDER, GOVERNANCE, AND PEACE BUILDING: By promoting good governance practices and empowering women to take on leadership roles while engaging in peace-building processes, we are raising awareness of UNSCR 1325 and facilitating community
