Organization Details

Cocoon Technologies is a software company that prioritizes the safety of all community members. We offer progressive and humane tech solutions to improve public safety and policing. Mindful of the stress faced by both civilians and law enforcement officers during face-to-face encounters, Cocoon Technologies is driven to foster safety and peace of mind. Our solutions move policing into the 21st century. Cocoon Technologies is transforming safety for the sake of community—civilians and law enforcement officers alike. With humanity and safety as our top priority, our tech solutions offer constructive dynamics as an interface for civilians and law enforcement officers.

Impact Story

Founded initially as Cocoon Technologies LLC in May 2021, the company became COCOON TECHNOLOGIES INC., a registered Delaware C-Corp in November 2021. Cocoon Technologies is registered to do business in Ohio and Michigan. Cocoon Tech’s Northstar is saving lives during traffic stops. Dr. Leah Lewis, J.D., started Cocoon Technologies, in May 2021 during the period in which the world was watching the Derek Chauvin murder trial of George Floyd. During that time, we also learned that Daunte Wright had been killed during a traffic stop in Brooklyn Center, MN. The evening she learned of Mr. Wright's death, she was undone. Dr. Lewis went into prayer--a prayer of lament--and went to sleep. She did not sleep well. She felt herself tossing and turning. She felt as if she had gone somewhere. When Dr. Lewis woke up, she had the idea that it would become Cocoon Tech’s solution for contactless policing during routine traffic stops. She then called the only tech founder she knew at that time and shared the idea with him. He said to her, "Leah, that will keep police officers safe too!" So, because the idea was of mutual benefit to motorists and law enforcement officers, Dr. Lewis decided to launch Cocoon Technologies. This matter is of grave significance to Dr. Lewis. Years ago while driving from DC to Cleveland late at night with two friends, Dr. Lewis and her friends were stopped by a PA State Trooper. The Trooper did not tell them why he stopped their vehicle and detained them for about 45 minutes. At one point he climbed into the backseat of their car and carried on a rambling conversation. Luckily they were unharmed allowing Dr. Lewis to conceive LARA (License and Registration App).
