Honey Bee Clothing

A For-profit with social mission

How This Works

As part of the TRANSFORM Support Hub, you will learn how to advance your career while getting hands on experience with organizations like this one.

Organization Details

Honey Bee Clothing is a Social enterprise that wants to change the system of how we make clothes.

We adress two problems:

1. We collect fabric waste and turn it into fashionable taste; we use wasted sari and african print, and donated jeans into upcycled garments and bags.

2. We work with unemployed young people and provide them an opportunity to be creative and intrapreneurs in our business; we teach local innovation by starting a movement for young people to reduce, re-use and upcycle clothing in their community.

Impact Story

As the Business owner and Future founder of Honey Bee Clothing...

I grew up wearing clothes passed down from older siblings or relatives until they reached me.

I had to turn my clothes into a personalised style that expressed who I was instead of allowing the narrative of scarcity and poverty to identify me.

I used my creativity to changé clothes and have them express me confidently and artistically.

It was important to me to bring in my pain and turn it into gain, showing the world how another man's trash is another man's treasure...

Diamonds and golden Jewels are often found in the dirt and pits of society.I

wanted to use my business mission to show how I can create wasted fabric into tastey clothing, I want to show you and the world how we can turn nothing into artistry with the power of colour, style and pattern selection. - Bianca Thusi
