Since we first opened our doors, StartUpAfrica has been guided by one overarching goal: creating opportunities for youth entrepreneurs. We are the place aspiring youth entrepreneurs call to make sense of anything from their business ideas to strategies for implementing them, mentorship and seeking seed funding.
WHAT WE DO
- Connect, mentor and build business skills of students and other youth and women
- Empower unemployed and underemployed African youth to build and sustain businesses, create jobs, and add value to the economy
- Increase entrepreneurship engagement of African Diaspora and allies globally
MISSION: Support youth in building business skills and in endeavors that foster financial independence, create jobs and grow African economies.
Youth unemployment is a big issue in Africa. We've initiated different programs from high school through women to help in building skills that will lead to job creation through entrepreneurship.
Since 2011, we have trained over 10,000 youth and women; between February 17 to March 3rd 2018, we trained over 1300 in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. Our impact continues to grow especially at a time when we want to prepare our organization to be run by paid employees.
