A For-profit with social mission

How This Works

As part of the TRANSFORM Support Hub, you will learn how to advance your career while getting hands on experience with organizations like this one.

Organization Details

melaSKN is a science-backed skincare brand rooted in African botanical heritage, founded by two Pharmacy students. We develop innovative products, starting with our papaya and qasil cleanser, specifically formulated to address unmet skincare needs, particularly concerns like hyperpigmentation in melanin-rich skin. We blend traditional botanical wisdom with modern scientific formulation, champion ethical sourcing, and support African scientists, aiming to bring authentic A-beauty to the UK market and beyond.

Impact Story

melaSKN was born from our personal experiences with chronic skin conditions and the realisation that mainstream skincare often overlooks the specific needs of melanin-rich skin and the rich heritage of African botanicals. This sparked our mission to create effective, science-backed solutions that truly make a difference in people's skin health and confidence. Our impact extends beyond products; we are committed to celebrating African botanical knowledge and empowering the scientists behind it, addressing historical underrepresentation in the industry.

We also aim to create significant social impact by reinvesting profits into UK STEM education initiatives for underrepresented youth, fostering equity and opportunity in science and entrepreneurship. Furthermore, our commitment to ethical and sustainable sourcing of botanicals contributes to positive environmental impact and supports the communities where these valuable resources originate. We believe in building a legacy of beauty, science, and sustainability that benefits both individuals and communities.
