Meli Bees Network gUG
Organization Details
Meli Bees Network brings systemic regenerative support to the most endangered areas in the Amazon. We do so by working together with local traditional communities, engaging them with both Meli's core team and our Network, where they can connect with other traditional communities to interact and share experiences.
Meli already has members from more than 15 different groups of Amazonian traditional communities - Indigenous villages, quilombos and smallholder “assentamentos”. We aim to learn about their stories, local reality, wishes and skills - and from there find the best practices to work with. Meli connects them with the needed technical and scientific support and provides the tools needed to develop the best practices in agroecology and native beekeeping.
We hope to be able to reach hundreds of communities in the next five years, while developing a deep connection with each one of them.
Impact Story
Meli was started by a new generation of Amazonian leaders that grow up in some of the most endangered areas in the Amazon (known as "Arc of Deforestation"). We saw the need to stop environmentally unsustainable practices in the area and act on the development of regenerative practices, being lead by the local communities. For that, we connect the traditional communities, the best available techniques for environmental positive impact and the international climate-engaged audience.
