Kulika Uganda

A Non-profit

How This Works

As part of the TRANSFORM Support Hub, you will learn how to advance your career while getting hands on experience with organizations like this one.

Organization Details

Kulika’s interventions include capacity building through training in ecological organic agriculture, value chain development of the targeted crops, creative capacity building, marketing skills and facilitating linkages to the market through support to cooperatives, administration of scholarships, school gardens, for feeding and learning, water and sanitation for increased agricultural production.

We promote practices and skills in crop production, processing, marketing and consumption. We build their capacity to reflect on farm challenges, analyze resources on the farm and form a right attitude towards organic agriculture. We believe that once your capacity is built, your attitude is formed, and with the available resources, a person should be able to produce food and sell the surplus for income.

We encourage trained farmers to start voluntary savings and loan associations for self-help development and form marketing association / cooperative societies to facilitate produce marketing.

Impact Story

Kulika also has worked in over 25 districts in Uganda and has trained directly and indirectly over 50,000 farmers in ecological organic agriculture and supported over 5,000 in education. The organization built the capacity of farmers to manage different value chains such as bananas, beans, cowpeas, coffee, groundnuts, maize, millet, pineapples, sesame, sorghum, soy bean, sunflower tomatoes, vegetable production from production to marketing. Communities have increased abilities to continue producing for home consumption and for income generation. This is exhibited by the number of farmers engaged in production activities in their localities. At least from every region, 1 Kulika trained farmer has upgraded his farm as a model for others to learn from through farmer to farmer extension.

Many of the educational beneficiaries are employed in different sectors in Uganda, some of them in national and international assignments. The vocational program has skilled youth for the job market.
