Impact Story

Ten years ago I decided to leave everything and it wasn't easy but the idea of traveling the world and interacting with other cultures was enough to follow a dream that changed my life. I am Dur Montoya, every day I am moved by the idea of supporting local initiatives that transform cities. I love being part of communities to co-create and strengthen myself.

During my journey around the world I met social leaders from all continents, I learned to unlearn and to dream that one day I could create a foundation that would support the leaders of my city, Medellín. In 2017, after traveling through 40 countries, I returned to Medellin with many doubts and fears, but I ended up creating LaPeaceHUB, a Medellin office of the MasterPeace Foundation, the global network of cultural managers to create communities with fewer conflicts.

In Medellin it is not easy to recognize the work of the leaders, most renounce their initiatives for lack of money, and the worst thing is that they do not know the enormous impact they are achieving. In La Peace HUB we want to change this situation. Our commitment is to support artists and women leaders to strengthen their initiatives for the construction of social fabric in vulnerable. And we do it through capacity building to enable them to be sustainable in the long term.

We support them to discover the impact they are generating and have local and international recognition. Initiatives like the ones we support prevent young people from being part of violent activities, decrease deaths, and open the possibilities for living with greater quality.

We are currently supporting seven initiatives that impact 600 families in 5 communes of Medellin, we hope to be able to support many more! They include:

  • Dance academy
  • Cosmetic production workshop to upskill and empower women
  • Collaboration spaces for artists from different backgrounds to come together
  • And more!
