WATER FOR WATER (WfW) ZAMBIA
Organization Details
WATER FOR WATER (WfW) is a non-profit organisation founded in 2012 that promotes a fair and sustainable use of water - because access to safe drinking water should not be a priviledge. With entrepreneurial, social and ecological approaches, WfW aims to have an impact wherever it is active, currently in Zambia, Mozambique & Switzerland.
WfW focusses on establishing professionally maintained water, sanitary and hygience supply systems (WASH) in structurally disadvantaged areas and on climate-friendly consumption and effective water protection as a resource. Teaching competencies and skills related to using water as a resource are central to all its activities.
WfW consciously and critically addresses problems and opportunities in dealing with water - continuously strengthening local value chains and dissolving dependencies.
Impact Story
WfW's ethos can be described in a statement as 'Together for Water and the Love of Life'. The following metrics demonstrate the positive impact WfW continues to make in the world today:
- Water supply improvement to low-income community households (over 10,000 households to date in Zambia)
- Vocational training of youths in the water sector via provision of bursaries at technical colleges (over 900 students to date)
- Improved sanitation technology in low-income community schools (over 10 schools to date)
Furthermore, WfW has partnered with over 600 gastronomy players in Switzerland by promoting the substitution of plastic-bottled water with tap-water, thereby giving tap water value and generating revenue to sustainably fund WASH systems and Skills development projects in Zambia and Mozambique.
