Omama Design
Organization Details
The Amazon rainforest is in crisis due to deforestation for agriculture and cattle farming. Simultaneously, local communities face severe economic challenges, with high unemployment and limited access to sustainable economic opportunities. This forces many into environmentally harmful practices to survive, creating a vicious cycle: poverty drives deforestation, and deforestation worsens poverty. This cycle continually degrades the Amazon’s ecosystem.
Omama addresses these crises by transforming discarded wood into designer homewares, promoting environmental stewardship and economic revitalization. We create jobs and offer sustainable woodcraft training to over 500 locals, fostering a community committed to protecting their environment.
