Impact Story

IMPACT OF THE WORK DONE:

CONTRIBUTION TO THE FIELD: Grassroots institutional building: In the beginning the community was unorganized and they are now being facilitated into SHG’s and federated into federations – collective voice and strength – right based issues for enhancing their livelihoods through leveraging schemes, credit and inclusion in programs. New voices and leaders – Women who have exhibited leadership qualities were trained separately to be the engines of development process in replicating, monitoring and being role models of their villages. The area is semiarid and the women do not have employment, poor access to markets to meet their livelihood demand. They are now being enrolled into MNREGS and have been capacitated into life skill employment programs.

CONTRIBUTION TO THE SOCIETY: Being human with a commitment and concern for the poor is the basic premise of every individual staff of Parivarthana. It is more to develop a passion to work for the poor rather than work with a job attitude. So attitudinal and behavioural change is what we see in every individual staff with a big social responsibility. Transparency and equity are the main value pillars in which we work. This is very important while working with the community especially when we are making huge money investments in watershed structures. Here transparency, participatory monitoring is very important. Social equity is equally important as without equity there will be only be conflicts and the program will not benefit everyone. The poor will finally be excluded. Non – Negotiable are – Economic viability, equity, ecological compatibility, employment generation and energy efficiency in our programs. These are essential for sustaining the programs and replicating it across communities and making it green to benefit poor communities. The new challenge is to design new energy efficient strategies to be environmentally friendly.
