African Clean Energy
Organization Details
Four million people die every year due to the smoke emanating from people cooking on open fire and/or dirty fuels. The practice also has catastrophic environmental consequences from air pollution and deforestation, and the cost of energy poses a major obstacle for many of the world's most vulnerable households to ever escaping poverty. African Clean Energy produces ultra-clean biomass cookstoves that burn with very high efficiency and eliminate smoke. It is developing distribution models that will make these cookstoves available to even the very poorest of the world, in a financially sustainable way.
