Ongula Village Homestead Lodge

A For-profit

How This Works

As part of the TRANSFORM Support Hub, you will learn how to advance your career while getting hands on experience with organizations like this one.

Organization Details

Ongula Village Homestead Lodge has been in existence since 2012 and started its social engagement in 2015 in order to organise volunteers to teach English and Mathematics in local schools and support local children and youth at the community centre. OVHL is strategically situated between Ondangwa and Eenhana, built alongside an active Ovambo Homestead. We are in the rural area of the northern Namibia and surrounded by seven villages, which belong to the Ongula municipality. We work to foster cross-cultural understanding through travel and volunteer experiences in Namibia.

Our mission is to connect international travellers and students with meaningful volunteer opportunities to support local communities and development in Namibia.

Impact Story

OVHL combines tourism, education and empowerment to create awareness in the northern part of Namibia. We are providing information events and afternoon education in our community centre, to facilitate an change of thinking and to generate impacts and authentic cultural experiences. We work extremely hard to bridge the gap between your volunteer work and the social experience everyone should have in Namibia.

Volunteers will make a real difference to the lives of children and villagers. People in Namibia are very friendly, open and welcoming so we will try our best to ensure that you feel comfortable and have opportunities to socialise and a lot of fun.
