Organization Details

Family Mission for Women and Children Welfare (FAWOCHIWE) is a non profit organization based in Kigoma region of Tanzania whose mission is to empower women and children socially and economically to utilize and maximize their full potential out of poverty and violence. The organization headquarter is established in Kibondo district. The organization envision a community in which women and children are empowered  to utilize and maximize their full potentials out of poverty and violence.

The organization is registered to conduct its intervention in the following areas; women and children protection; inclusion of women and children with disabilities; women economic empowerment; guidance and counselling and facilitate vocational skills, agriculture, environment and Information Communication Technology (ICT).

Impact Story

The organization is registered to empower women and children socially and economically to utilize their full potentials out of poverty and violence. This is due to the fact that women and children are vulnerable to violence, discrimination, neglect, abuse, exclusion, early and forced marriage, child labour, forced prostitution and poverty in the course of their life. 

The organization address the problems and challenges through number of activities including facilitating community events and sensitization meetings engaging parents/care givers and victims of Gender Based Violence; Formation of schools clubs; where girls and boys meet and discuss Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health, bodily autonomy, goal setting, menstrual hygiene management, mental health and wellbeing, Gender Based Violence, HIV/AIDS and rights of youths with disabilities; Conduct awareness sessions on the rights and responsibilities of children and youths including those with disabilities; Provision of psychosocial support to children and youths through guidance and counseling, sports and games and life skills sessions; Conduct training to children, youths, parents, women, care givers and religious leaders on rights and responsibilities, Gender Based Violence, Prevention of Sexual and Exploitation Abuse (PSEA), Business Selection, Planning and Management  and Conduct periodic home visits to speak to parents and care givers on positive parental skills to youths with disabilities, Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHS) and Gender Based Violence (GBV).
