Project Description and Impact
Our organization is currently looking for a fund-raising manager to update a project proposal and help raise funds for a peace education project. The project is intended to offer peace education and economic empowerment to 500 children and youth who are displaced as a result of the crisis in the North West and South West (English speaking) regions of Cameroon. The project would help them to become Peace Ambassadors in their various communities, it would help them not to become child soldiers, terrorists or gangsters. A culture of peace must take place in the classroom from an early age. It is important to recognize the crucial role of education in contributing to building a culture of peace. Peace education is dynamic long term process, a life-time experience that requires participation at all levels: from family, schools, places of work, classroom, playgrounds, and communities as well as the nation itself.
The outcome would be to establish two Peace Education and Economic Empowerment Academies in the two regions where many more children and youth would be opportune to acquire life-skills and/or vocational agricultural training. The project will provide skills training in: Mushroom production and marketing; Snail farming; Modern agro-forestry farming systems; Seeds multiplication technology; Modern fish farming; Pig production and commercialization; Modern poultry production; ICT; Catering services; Clothing and Textile; Soap making etc. This would enable them create independent employment after graduation.
