Project Description and Impact
Our community center is an NGO that aims to help locals help themselves out of poverty. We operate a lodge and restaurant as our main source of income to support our efforts. We are in desperate need of someone who can support us to create a multi-year marketing strategy to promote the lodge and restaurants to potential volunteers and travelers who are bored with bungee jumping and tired of traditional tourist activities.
Our goal is to promote the center as a unique opportunity, where the perceived benefit is not just to enjoy a different kind of 'African experience', but to be opened up to a different way of living together.
a) Computer expertise is rare here; the Experteer train local staff and volunteers some basic computer and internet usage skills.
b) Zambian culture is very different to Western culture; you will need to get a real feel for this in order to successfully and authentically promote our center.
By participating in the MovingWorlds Institute, you will first learn social impact frameworks and human-centered design before putting your existing skills and new knowledge to action.In addition, this organization will expose you to new things, like:
The Experteer will face many challenges that are also opportunities for growth and learning. Just getting on some booking websites is a challenge! Professionals will leave with an expanded understanding of marketing on a budget and the flexibility & creativity needed to promote rural properties.
The Experteer will be provided with shared accommodations that have a toilet and shower. Hot water is available when requested.
We offer a tour of the Tiko property and a lesson in our history. You are also are welcome at our parties and many become close with our local team: going to dinners at their homes, watching movies together, etc.
