Social Impact Project for UNIMAC Digital Futures: Empowering Cameroonian Girls through STEM for Community Impact
Project Description and Impact
The Universal Maidens Association Cameroon(UNIMAC) project is dedicated to empowering girls and young women in Cameroon through education in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and digital literacy. Recognizing the significant gender gap in these fields, UNIMAC aims to promote gender equality, build confidence, and provide opportunities for girls to develop skills that are essential for their personal and professional growth.
The project involves organizing workshops, mentorship programs, and community outreach activities to inspire and equip girls with the knowledge and tools they need to succeed in STEM careers. By fostering an encouraging environment and providing access to resources, UNIMAC seeks to break down cultural and societal barriers that limit girls' participation in technology and science.
However, despite their dedication and efforts, UNIMAC faces several challenges that hinder the full realization of its goals. Limited financial resources, lack of technical expertise in certain areas, and the need for strategic guidance pose significant obstacles to scaling their impact and ensuring program sustainability. Additionally, there is a need for capacity building in areas such as project management, stakeholder engagement, and monitoring and evaluation.
Therefore, UNIMAC needs support in the form of mentorship and coaching to strengthen its organizational capacity, improve program delivery, and build long-term sustainability. External expertise will help UNIMAC to refine its strategies, expand its reach, and ultimately create a lasting positive impact on girls’ lives in Cameroon through STEM education.
