Social Impact Project for Fundraising Strategy to Support Sustainable Cities in Myanmar
Project Description and Impact
We are looking for expert support to further develop our capital raising strategy and overall financial management.
Our organisation is centered around 2 revenue models: 1) heritage and public space design and advisory work for clients and 2) investing in heritage properties including heritage property management. Our organization consists of a private, for-profit company entity under the Department of Investment and Company Administration (DICA) in Myanmar and a Holding company registered in Singapore as the parent company to facilitate investment. We have a finance team of an accountant and senior accountant under supervision of the CEO, and a very involved group of (international) shareholders based in the Netherlands, Bangkok, KL and Yangon.
Particularly for the investments in heritage properties to improve public spaces, we needs to raise capital and are looking to further develop innovative ways in which to develop a proposition for impact investors, peer to peer financiers, and financial institutions. So far we have been able to raise 1 million USD + in equity and loans but much more will be required to make a significant impact on Myanmars cities and heritage buildings. As senior finance people are very difficult to find in Myanmar and we have limited resources at this stage, we are hoping the MovingWorlds network of experteers could play a role in building internal capacity to meet our goals.
By participating in the MovingWorlds Institute, you will first learn social impact frameworks and human-centered design before putting your existing skills and new knowledge to action. In addition, this organization will expose you to new things, like:
This is an opportunity to work in a dynamic, interdisciplinary, and innovative organisation
and share in our vision to make Yangon Asia’s most livable urban place – environmentally,
economically, socially and culturally. We will also be looking at other cities in Myanmar
soon, and possibly across borders. We work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
with opportunities to work on a wide variety of projects and topic areas, both individually
and on project teams.
We manage a number of heritage properties including two rooms with ensuites and shared living space on the top floor of our heritage office in downtown Yangon.
Working in a fast growing, locally and regionally celebrated social venture that is having a visible impact on Yangon and hopefully other cities in the region soon.
