PROJECT DESCRIPTION AND IMPACT

POSITION OVERVIEW

The expert teacher position is responsible for teaching English or Social Studies to a group of students who are eager to learn. The grades will be 3rd grade to 9th grade. The expert will be teaching in three of these grades only. Each grade is composed of 15 to 20 students. The expert will be in charge of teaching the assigned curriculum.

RESPONSIBILITIES

This expert is responsible for:

·      Helping our students work towards reaching the international standard for speaking English;

·      Creating the motivation within our students to speak in English;

·      Achieving a significant level of learning through the application of effective and appropriate methodologies;

 

Essential Qualifications

·      Fluency in English, as a native language

·      Undergraduate degree; a degree in education preferred and Masters level preferred

·      Training or experience in teaching English as a second language preferred

·      Interest in living in Guatemala

·      Availability of 1 year minimum, starting in January, to volunteer your time with Esperanza Juvenil

·      Willing to comply with and fulfil the requirements and responsibilities of the position
