Adventurous Fellowship for passionate Designer and/or Developer
Support Poverty Alleviation in Cebu City, Central Visayas, Philippines
PROJECT DESCRIPTION AND IMPACT
Be part of a professional software development team to build our organization, we host an innovative platform to enable NGOs & Governments to interact with the poor worldwide using SMS and Voice, easily, in just minutes. You will help design, build, and scale our global platform. You will share your knowledge with our talented Filipino team. As part of our work to also give back to the local community, you will also be involved in the local community by sharing your skills and experience with local developers and entrepreneurs. As part of our community building efforts, we have created a co-working space for the tech local community, where you’ll be able to participate in tech meetups each week and interact with local entrepreneurs.
Success is contributing to the design and building of the our platform, which will enable NGOs and Governments to interact with the poor using Voice and SMS. For example, our first pilot customer, an international NGO, did a financial education program for 25,000 people affected by a natural disaster. They sent soap opera episodes with quizzes (to reinforce the content and test comprehension) twice a week for six weeks. We used over 650,000 messages (SMS + Voice) to interactively engage with the audience. You will help with new features and scaling the platform to serve more NGOs around the world.
