Project Description and Impact

We require a legal expert to support our Department of Enforcement of Housing Element Law. Every 8 years, each city in California is required to update its Housing Element to demonstrate to the California Department of Housing and Community Development that they will be able to accommodate their Regional Housing Need Allocation. There have been several changes to the requirements for Housing Elements since the beginning of the last 8 year cycle that make it easier to require cities to upzone, and permit more housing. Our organization's mission is to enforce state housing laws, including these laws regulating Housing Elements. We require support to help direct our organization's enforcement effort.
