Social Impact Project for Crowdfunding Expert to Fight Food Insecurity in Cameroon
Project Description and Impact
We are a non-governmental, non-profit organisation carrying out capacity-building activities with small-scale farmers (mostly women) in marginalised rural communities in the South West region of Cameroon. Currently, we are planning to build a modern cassava production, processing and transformation centre in Kumba, which will provide free vocational training to 10 women groups (300 female headed households) who hail from impoverished communities and operate a food distributing project to provide free meals to 3000 refugees, orphans, Covid-19 victims and internally displaced persons (IDPs) traumatized by the anglophone crisis.
The project will solve the issue of food rationing at refugee camps and help provide enough food to refugees as well as increase their meals from one square meal a day to three nutritious meals. Covid-19 patients, orphans as well as IDPs will have food varieties to feed on, which would improve on their health and well-being.
By participating in the MovingWorlds Institute, you will first learn social impact frameworks and human-centered design before putting your existing skills and new knowledge to action. In addition, this organization will expose you to new things, like:
There are many things the experteer would learn from us:
- He or she would learn how our non-profit organisation operates, and gain hands-on experience in a growing social enterprise
- Another aspect of learning is our culture and livelihood; and how poor people survive their daily lives
Once COVID passes, you can join us on-site, and the Fundraising experteer would be provided with a private bedroom with water and toilet (close to other apartments).
Once COVID passes, you can join us on-site, Two plates of either African or European dishes per day
Our fund raising experteer would learn our traditional dances, songs, and participate in our cultural activities. He or she would have a chance to learn our local languages, cooking skills, drumming skills, visits to Mount Cameroon, park and zoos, Botanic gardens, swimming skills, canoe race etc.
This project accepts virtual experteers.
