Project Description and Impact
The Techlabs Mashinani project is a mobile learning lab that aims to bridge the digital divide gap in rural and marginalized communities in Kenya by providing free innovative learning tools to student’s teachers, women and girls using an improvised state-of-the-art mobile digital classroom, equipped with solar-powered systems computers, designed to bring world-class tech education to the remotest regions. The project aims to address online digital safety, particularly addressing GBV in digital spaces by creating awareness about online risks, especially for young girls and women, and equip them with tools to ensure their safety and well-being, address digital literacy issues as well as a lack of access to ICT tools. The overall objective of the project is to promote digital inclusion of pupils, teachers, girls and women in marginalized communities in digital space by bridging access, technology and infrastructure gaps as a result of limited access to internet, affordability of digital infrastructure, low digital literacy levels of citizens, Social norms and Technology facilitated Gender Based Violence among women. Specific objectives include: a) Promote digital inclusion in basic education by providing 3600 pupils and 240 teachers with free digital literacy training and coding bootcamp in a period of 2 years.) Reach out to 3000 girls to embrace STEM by creating awareness about cyber security and how to deal with Technology facilitated Gender Based Violence and c) support 12 schools to develop resource mobilization, acquire ICT infrastructure and develop sustainability plans for their technology requirements.We would like support to be able to come up with quality impact reports for our stakeholders,including donors,
