Project Description and Impact

The Afrixyz For SDG2 International Youth Summit is part of our broader mission to empower refugees and rural youth in Uganda through sustainable agriculture and entrepreneurship. This initiative addresses critical challenges such as food insecurity, unemployment, and limited access to markets and resources, particularly for marginalized communities like refugees and rural farmers.

Globally, youth in these communities face significant barriers to economic independence and sustainable livelihoods. Refugees often grapple with displacement, lack of opportunities, and systemic marginalization, while rural youth frequently lack access to training, tools, and markets to thrive in agriculture. Despite these challenges, both groups possess tremendous potential to drive innovation and solutions within their communities if provided the necessary support.

The summit serves as a platform to:

• Share knowledge and skills: Bring together youth, policymakers, experts, and organizations to exchange ideas on sustainable agriculture and entrepreneurship.
• Promote collaboration: Foster partnerships that create opportunities for refugees and rural youth to access markets, resources, and mentorship.
• Drive policy change: Advocate for inclusive policies that support youth empowerment and sustainable food systems.
• Highlight success stories: Showcase the resilience and ingenuity of youth-led initiatives addressing hunger and unemployment.

Why We Need Support

To achieve these objectives, we require resources to organize the summit effectively and ensure its sustainability and impact. Support is crucial for:

1. Facilitating Inclusive Participation: Many potential participants, particularly refugees, cannot afford travel and accommodation costs. Financial assistance will ensure their voices are heard.
2. Enhancing Accessibility: Resources are needed to make the summit inclusive for all, including persons with disabilities.
3. Providing High-Quality Training: Funds will help develop tailored workshops and knowledge-sharing sessions that equip participants with practical skills.

Learning Opportunity

By working with Afrixyz For SDG2, the experteer can gain valuable experience in sustainable agriculture and food security, learning about innovative farming practices that promote sustainability and address food security challenges in refugee and rural contexts. They will also gain insights into youth empowerment, leadership, and social entrepreneurship, particularly in designing programs that empower marginalized youth and foster youth-led solutions. The experteer will develop skills in partnership building and advocacy, learning how to engage with diverse stakeholders and advocate for policy changes. Additionally, they will gain hands-on experience in event planning, coordination, and monitoring and evaluation, as well as a deeper understanding of global development, particularly in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. This experience will allow the experteer to contribute to meaningful change while gaining expertise in program design, impact assessment, and scaling social ventures.
