Project Description and Impact
Background of the Project:
Our organization, Yo-Waste Limited, is embarking on an ambitious project to establish the first material recovery facility (MRF) in Kampala, Uganda. This facility will have the capacity to process 24,000 tonnes of municipal solid waste annually, with a recycling output of 35%. By converting waste into valuable secondary raw materials, we aim to significantly reduce the environmental impact of waste disposal in the region while contributing to the local economy.
Why We Need Support:
To bring this project to fruition, we need to raise approximately USD 700,000. This financing will cover the costs of setting up the facility, including the acquisition of equipment, infrastructure development, and operational expenses. While we have a clear vision and a strong business model, securing the necessary funding has been challenging.
Investors are essential to this project’s success, but we understand that they have specific expectations and requirements. We need expert support to ensure we are fully prepared to meet these expectations, from refining our fundraising strategy to crafting compelling pitches and making the right connections. This support will help us navigate the complexities of fundraising, anticipate investor needs, and ultimately secure the financing required to make the MRF a reality.
Learning Opportunity
By working with us, the experteer will gain deep insights into the waste management and resource recovery industry, particularly within the unique context of East Africa. We have extensive knowledge of the industry's dynamics, challenges, and opportunities in this region, including industry-specific data and market trends that are crucial for success.
The experteer will have the opportunity to learn about the innovative approaches we’re implementing to address waste management issues in Uganda, a market with untapped potential and growing demand for sustainable solutions. They will also gain firsthand experience in navigating the complexities of the African market, including understanding consumer behavior, regulatory frameworks, and the socio-economic factors influencing the sector.
This collaboration will offer a unique perspective on the "junk/trash" business in East Africa, providing the experteer with valuable knowledge that can be applied to similar projects in other emerging markets. Ultimately, they will be part of a pioneering effort to establish a sustainable waste management solution in a rapidly growing region.
