Organization Details
HoBeei offers a gamified sharing platform that incentivizes individuals and brands to participate in the sharing economy to achieve responsible consumption and reduce inequality. Individuals can list preowned and unwanted items and earn tokens to get better things they need in return by others including discounts and giveaways from businesses. Businesses can list unwanted resources(old/damaged inventory, unwanted furniture etc) on HoBeei and the traction from people wanting to obtain these items can be utilized to bring focus on the services with the ads placed on these pages. Businesses/brands can have customers share brand-related products with each other, and tokens earned from sharing can be used to discount the purchase of new ones.
Impact Story
HoBeei was established in 2020 to reduce the growing inequality in Nigeria. Since then we have been very intentional in achieving our aims. Aside the sharing platform, we have a Youtube series called "Offloading with HoBeei" where award-winning individuals, politicians and celebrities are shown decluttering and letting go of unwanted items while being interviewed on how they maintain a sustainable lifestyle. These items then end up on their Hobeei profile for the average Nigerian to obtain which spurs others to share their items as well. Over 5,000 people have been impacted with the majority being mothers and students. The use of tokens to obtain items empowers the unemployed and low-income earners to get items they need.
