Social Impact Project for Marketing/Communications Project - SAP EMEA Cohort

How This Works

As part of the TRANSFORM Support Hub, you will learn how to advance your career while getting hands on experience on projects like this one.

Project Description and Impact

We started our making games for our own Mums, then 86 (sharp as a tack) and 90 (vascular dementia). During Covid our free app took off, hitting over 100,000 downloads. We funded ourselves (ouch!) a clinical trial in the UK showing caregivers LOVED playing our app with people with dementia in their own homes. Caregivers reported they were more relaxed (92%), happier (67%) and that the person with dementia communicated more (58%). This confirmed our focus on improving socialization - not scoring - in dementia. Not brain training. Not toe-tapping to music. Not early detection. Just making it easy for the person with dementia to find something THEY want to talk about, triggering positive memories AND starting wondeeful conversations.  We applied to the Mayo Clinic and ASU MedTech Accelerator is 2023, which we won (they called us the underdogs) recocognizing our "simple yet scaleable solution able to impact millions in dementia worldwide." We are currently part of the Texas Medical Center Digital Health accelerator in Houston. We've been featured on FOX News, PBS TV, BBC News and ITV News.

The FOX News piece was amazing (they called us!!):

But all that was with a FREE app, with virtusally no paid marketing. We know very little about marketing. We haven't had budget to get serious about marketing either. But it is time to pay our bills and the product is ready to scale. Last month we had 2000 users across 100 countries, who played our image-based dementia-friendly quiz games for over 600 hours, at a total tech stack cost (hosting, delivery, all-in etc) for £200 - in total - for the month. We are ready to scale. But we understand we need advice. That is why we are reaching out. We find our purpose attracts talent. I hope this continues through Moving Worlds. Thank you.

FYI, we have some magic brewing: we are semi-finalists in the UK's largest AI for Dementia program The Longitude Prize for Dementia, and with the grant funding we are incorporating GenAI to instantly create and deliver a game on, well, anything. A village in Mexico (even where nostalgic photos are scarce). A sport/team/hobby localised for any country. Any hometown. This hyper-personalized gamification will, we hope, make us even more appealing to caregivers seeking to improve their relationships with their loved ones living with dementia. Simple yet scaleable.

We also need to understand the impact investor mindset when it comes to investing in growth. We have had a few family offices invest in us to date (no VCs) and have Mayo Clinic and Arizona State University on our cap table. Partnering with the right impact investors, which may be more family offices, will be critical for us.

Thank you. I assure you we will respect the time and advice of our Advisors.

Cheers, Bruce Elliott Cofounder and CEO

Learning Opportunity

Our purpose attracts talent. You can make a real difference in the lives of people living with dementia AND their caregivers, in every corner of the world. You will see how solutions from the app store can deliver far wider impact than those from the drug store. Also see how a simple, yet scalable idea can scale to deliver millions and millions of minutes of measuable impact, for pennies.

We will soon be using GenAI in healthcare like no one ever has - we have tolerances for Gen AI hallucinations (the occasional incorect answer in our quiz games serves to increase conversations - which is our therapeutic benefit).

Tell us your hometown (anywhere, globally) and a favourite hobby (anything, really!) and we will add a game on each to our library (we have 3200 games and our app with games played across 134 countires, so we may already have games on those topics, or with your help we can quickly add them.

Our small team runs deep with passion. We will also help you in any way we can!

Genuinely, thank you!
