Project Description and Impact

The Nous Foundation (Nous) is an independent platform for exchange between Louisiana and the French-speaking world. Our organization works on linguistic rights for Louisiana’s French & Creole-speaking communities, which numbered 1 million in 1970 and has dropped to 150,000 speakers today. To prevent language death from taking place, we work on improving awareness of Louisiana’s heritage languages through our multilingual publications, documentaries & films, and conferences. We have developed over 45 partnerships around the world - with Cambridge University, among others - to study and implement programs to stem language loss. Since launching in June 2020, our organization has built a community of over 11,000 people and raised significant funds.

We are now ready to open a cultural institute dedicated to Louisiana’s French & Creole-speaking communities, but we need to launch a capital campaign. As such, we want to work with an Experteer to (1) develop a capital campaign strategy, (2) explore and talk through financing instruments and fundraising strategies, and (3) brainstorm ways that we can talk about our positive community impact to best ensure that we attract donations/funding.
