Social Impact Project for Fundraising Expert to Empower Youth in Tanzania through Education
Project Description and Impact
We develop the skills of the youth of Tanzania, focusing on training, mentorship, coaching and self-learning through online platforms and projects. Since 2015 we have partnered with over 35 schools across Tanzania and directly reached over 18,500 students through our programmes. We have supported different organization to engage with more than 200,000 learners over the past three years.
We are now transforming towards becoming more sustainable and increase the depth of our impact. With these pillars in mind, we are focusing on building KIJANA CAFÉ, an offline and online mentoring platform that uses storytelling to improve English literacy, fluency, and creative expression.
Our physical (Offline) Kijana Café offers a youth-friendly co-working space that enables story-centered learning exchanges between professionals, and fosters a culture of skills development through human experiences, practical training, and internships. Our previous programmes have demonstrated that young people need physical connections and immersive experiences to aid the acquisition of job skills and relevant work experiences. Therefore, Kijana Cafe will facilitate learning in the workplace by engaging with experts in specific sectors of the economy with needs that match the skills of young people. In particular, Cafe participants will learn i) how to show up as professionals ii) how to self-reflect and learn from others and iii) learn the rudiments of narrative essay construction.
Online, the Kijana Cafe digital platform links youth to mentors from across the African Diaspora who can provide support to further develop professional behaviours and guide career development.
By working with us on fundraising you will be helping us to keep doing the work we have been doing for the past 5 years. You will be supporting us to transform to the more sustainable organization and increase the depth of impact to more than 36,0000 students from schools we are connected with.
By participating in the MovingWorlds Institute, you will first learn social impact frameworks and human-centered design before putting your existing skills and new knowledge to action. In addition, this organization will expose you to new things, like:
Knowledge and experience on social change landscape in East Africa, Have any opportunity to learn the journey of change-makers in Tanzania grassroots.
