PROJECT DESCRIPTION AND IMPACT
We are a financial service provider that strengthens the economic base of the low-income groups in Somaliland through loans and savings. We have built ourselves from a microcredit project that started with 150 clients to a fully-fledged microfinance institution that has created sustainable and resilient micro enterprises for 14,000 clients from 1999 to 2015, out of which 80% are women.
We are changing our funding model from being dependent on external grants to building a profitable social enterprise model that achieves financial and social returns. In this endeavor, we will in 2017 establish a commercial livestock fattening farm. To this end we are looking for an experienced professional to will help the CEO in developing a business plan, a fundraising strategy and in mapping out of prospective partners. The expert will us help also in designing a business model that is based on modern farming methods, which takes the business from ground zero to a profitable stage that maximizes the business's social returns

1. A business plan and a fundraising strategy are developed
2. Possible partners are mapped out and approached

1. A profitable social enterprise is established for K-MFI and its dependency on external funding is reduced as the MFI generates more capital;
2. K-MFIs loan portfolio is expanded and its number of clients is increased
3. K-MFI products are innovative and in line with the priorities of the low-income groups
4. K-MFI branch's out to the other regions of Somaliland enabling the MFI to access financial services to previously unreached populations;
5. Better financial and non-financial services are provided by K-MFI to its target groups

The expert will learn a lot from the culture and way of living in Somaliland. The people are very positive by nature, their mood is not dependent on their financial status or other live challenges. The people are happy always and are content on the little they have and are supportive to each other. The expert will learn a lot from this as money cannot buy happiness.
We will cover the international travel and the local travel of the expert, food and accommodation and any other local costs
We will provide good accommodation, free meals, local transport and a stipend, the latter will be discussed but we will try our utmost to make the experts stay comfortable.
