Project Description and Impact

Founded as a community-based organization in 2016, AgeWatch Africa is a Kenyan-based, not-for-profit social enterprise with the core mission to provide compassionate and high-quality care to adults aged 70 and older who live in Kisumu West and its neighboring sub-counties. In January 2019, AgeWatch Africa obtained its national mandate and now provides three distinct care levels: home care, group daycare, and residential care in our Kisumu West Centre. By providing long-term care across different settings, we support our clients’ changing needs so that they can age gracefully and maintain their independence for as long as possible. Recently, we expanded our offerings through a partnership with the local governments to provide COVID-19 vaccines to the elderly.

Currently, we are seeking volunteers to join our Board of Directors. The Board of Directors provides mission-based leadership and strategic governance for the development of our annual and long-term fundraising, networking, and development goals. While the day-to-day operations are led by the organization’s staff, the support of the board is essential. Members of the Board of Directors are active advocates for our mission and ambassadors for the elderly across the globe. Each of our board members has professional experience from various industries, not necessarily from the nonprofit sector. For us, the passion to serve the elderly is more important than professional caregiving experience.
