Organization Details

SeaVuria is transforming STEM education in rural Kenya by leveraging technology to expand access to quality learning, mentorship, and career pathways for underserved students. Our integrated programs—including Professional Learning Communities (PLC) for educators, student mentorship and scholarships, and hands-on innovation experiences—are designed to close the education gap, empower girls, and prepare youth for future careers in STEM.Operating in 10 secondary schools in Taita Taveta County, SeaVuria reaches over 4,500 students and 90+ educators annually. Through technology-driven professional learning, teachers develop modern, student-centered teaching practices. Our mentorship and scholarship programs provide students—particularly girls—with the guidance, skills, and support needed to succeed in STEM fields and build essential life skills. Meanwhile, our STEM Extravaganza challenges students to solve real-world problems through innovation and project-based learning.

Impact Story

We believe in a future where every student, regardless of gender or location, has access to cutting-edge technology and a robust STEM education. Our goal is to nurture a generation of learners who are equipped to lead, innovate, and contribute to the sustainable development of their communities and beyond.

Activating STEM Learning Through Improved Teaching:
A recent survey shows a shift toward student-centered teaching, increasing engagement. Teachers report 41% of students now perform better in STEM, with 44% improved understanding, 45% better STEM discussions, and 46% increased enthusiasm due to SeaVuria’s professional learning. Students report greater confidence, technology fluency, and excitement for learning.

STEM Identity and Success:
Through the Science Extravaganza, students solve real-world problems, such as designing a biodigester that converts waste into cooking gas. A team created wood-like material from recycled plastics. Success in competitions boosts confidence in STEM careers.

Increased Opportunity and Engagement:
Science Extravaganza participation grew 60% over four years, with female attendance rising from 32 to 200 (2018-2023). PLC participation expanded from 35 teachers in 2012 to 92 in 2024. Our scholarship program, which began with 14 students in 2014, now supports 116, including 8 female college scholars. Improved KCSE performance strengthens university access.

Inclusion and Female Leadership in STEM:
With a 70% female-majority Advisory Board, our project fosters inclusivity. Women leaders advocate for girls in STEM, while female TTU lecturers mentor students, proving that women belong in STEM fields.

Technology Tools and Devices:
SeaVuria has equipped 10 schools with 500+ technology assets. All 10 schools have been connected to the Internet to provide access to quality STEM resources. We partner with organizations to enhance STEM access.
