Organization Details
Spirited Futures' purpose is centred around empowering young changemakers to create positive environmental and social change by providing them with the necessary resources, support, and opportunities for personal growth and development. We focus on nature-based retreats facilitated by experienced workshop leaders. The goal is to help participants tap into their inner wisdom, soft skills and confidence, enabling them to respond to their purpose with clarity and commitment. We have started a co-mentoring programme for future leaders, offering intergenerational support from existing leaders.
The main motivations behind the organization's mission is to challenge the existing narrative where young people are often given a voice but lack the power and agency to disrupt or innovate effectively. Spirited Futures seeks to collaborate with older generations and bring generations together to harness their power collectively and have a real impact on climate change, poverty, and inequality.
Impact Story
Our story started with three individuals who were involved with Spirited Business, a retreat for purpose-driven leaders, to come together to dialogue about approaches to create inner and external change. During a retreat, Spirited Futures founder - Karen Stenning, wanted to expand this offering to the future generation of entrepreneurs and charity founders and Spirited Futures was born. In 2021, the inaugural retreat in Yorkshire welcomed six young individuals, offering them a transformative journey over three days. The impact was profound; these participants emerged not just with newfound resilience but with ignited passions and a deep connection to their inner wisdom. They have gone onto start up wellbeing initiatives and work in large corporations on sustainability.
Since then, Spirited Futures has been on a relentless quest to understand and serve the needs of youth leadership. We conducted extensive research involving 150 young people, and a blueprint for contemporary leadership emerged, guiding Spirited Futures towards providing the essential resources and skills for the next generation. This year we secured funding to launch a groundbreaking intergenerational mentoring programme in Brighton and Hove. Collaborating with youth organisation - Youth The Gap, and existing leaders in the area. We hope to bridge the gap between generations and ensure a legacy of sustainable progress. As Spirited Futures continues to expand its reach, its legacy for igniting passion and nurturing future leaders, we hope it will shape a world where purpose-driven leaders thrive and create positive change.
