Organization Details

Soil Doctors is a social enterprise registered and operating in Kenya that offers a value proposition which is affordable, irrigation costs and time savings carbon sink planters for  growing trees in dry lands. Application of carbon sink planters is an effective countermeasure to increase soil organic carbon stock while improving soil fertility and climate change mitigation in agriculture. The carbon sink box is a game-changer that not only enrich the soils with minerals and arrest CO2 but improves plant structure, increase resistance to pests and disease, and more intense flavor profiles for fruits and vegetables. We are restoring and regenerating dry lands.

Impact Story

Soil Doctors contribute to restoring the global ecosystem by manufacturing microclimate planters that increase the seedling/ sapling survival rate by over 85 percent in water -scarce settings. Carbon sink planters are used by fruit and native tree farmers in ASALs areas who want to grow trees in these dry and degraded lands.  The planters minimize water and time used to irrigate young trees through a water conservation technique in the planter. The carbon in carbon-sink boxes resists degradation and can be held in soils for hundreds to thousands of years. Thus, the use of Carbon-sink boxes for tree growing is an effective way to sequestrate carbon and fight against climate change.
