Organization Details

WATER SUPPLY AND SANITATION INITIATIVE (WASSI) is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) which was established on 9th July, 2019 for the purpose of advocacy to provide access to safe drinking water and proper sanitation, nutrition and food security, climate change and health. All these are on the following sustainable development goals proposed by UN: SDG 2; Zero Hunger: End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture.SDG 3; Good Health and Well-being: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.SDG 6; Clean Water and Sanitation: Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.SDG 13; Climate Action: Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.

 

Impact Story

1.     Ensuring Access to Clean Water and Sanitation: WASSI aims to provide equitable access to clean and safe drinking water and improved sanitation facilities. Its objectives include implementing water purification projects, improving water resource management, and promoting hygiene and sanitation practices to reduce water-borne diseases.

2.     Ensuring Food Security and Improved Nutrition: WASSI aims to work towards ending hunger and malnutrition by promoting sustainable agriculture practices, supporting small-scale farmers, and facilitating access to diverse and nutritious food sources. The organization's objective is to ensure food security for vulnerable populations and empower them to lead healthier lives.

3.     Enhancing Health and Well-being: WASSI's objective is to improve overall health and well-being for all age groups, especially in underserved communities. It strives to enhance access to quality healthcare services, promote health education and awareness, and support initiatives that prevent and control diseases.

4.     Combating Climate Change and Building Resilience: WASSI is dedicated to taking urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts. Its objectives include promoting climate-resilient agricultural practices, supporting renewable energy initiatives, and implementing climate adaptation and mitigation projects to protect vulnerable communities from the adverse effects of climate change.

5.     Promoting Sustainable Water Resource Management: WASSI's objective is to advocate for and implement sustainable water resource management practices. This includes supporting community-led initiatives for water conservation, rainwater harvesting, and efficient water use to ensure the availability of clean water for future generations.
