OpenNet4 O Zambia amplifies rural voices by connecting citizens to speak to power, policies and national processes around issues of Governance,Health,ICTs and Environment.
Impact Story
OpenNet4 O Zambia through the local participation in governance program (LoPaGo) was able to help communities in 7 unplanned settlements to advocate for reduction of the land occupancy license fees from K1000- K600 through citizens recommendations that the organization got as it organized it's community dialogue forums in the unplanned settlements.
This today has seen these communities been gazzetted and community members having their properties rightfully owned.
The organization has also also been able to influence the inclusion of ward development committee members in the selection of franchise companies contracted by the local authority to collect solid waste management in 6 zones of Choma district.
OpenNet4 O Zambia through it's environmental cluster has been able to plant over 15000 different tree species in several rural communities through a partnership with southern water and sanitation company in Southern Province of Zambia. The organization has also established 17 environmental school clubs and has trained 3 communities on natural resource management and governance.
The organization has further established ward youth action groups as parallel structures to enable youths to have a voice in defining their community priorities in 4 wards of Choma district.
