Hali Halisi is a Kiswahili word that means the spirit of authenticity. It is a digital solution in Kenya, African sign language space. We provide sign language interpreters to Deaf persons accessing healthcare services, through video and video relay services, regardless of the user's location.
Our onboarding of interpreters ensures that interpreters are of a high standard with continuous access to training and resources to build their capacity which will ensure the Deaf have access to quality information.
Impact Story
Sign language interpreters charge, non-standardised and exorbitant fees. Most skilled interpreters work in urban centers, resulting in an undersupply in rural communities. This also led to many Deaf individuals not even receiving basic news or medical information due to the communication barrier. The Deaf are often left behind when it comes to access and innovation.
Hali Halisi is a video call center for sign language interpreters. Providing quality and easy access to Interpreters for the Deaf community through tele-interpretations.
Online and remote interpretations are facilitated through video calling services, meaning customers (Deaf people) can access professional interpreters from any location. The Deaf having access to information in real time ensures they can access quality healthcare, more so for expectant Deaf mothers thus lowering morbidity in infants as well.
