Luta pela Paz
Organization Details
We use boxing and martial arts as part of an approach to promote youth development and prevent youth violence in communities around the world.
Impact Story
Luta pela Paz was born in the Maré favela, Rio de Janeiro in the year 2000 as a response to children becoming involved in armed drug gangs. We started as a small boxing gym and have now developed a comprehensive methodology to help young people around the world lead peaceful, positive and productive lives.
We have Academies in Rio and London working directly with around 3,000 children and young people a year, an Alliance of over 220 trained organisations and coaches using sport for development in communities affected by inequality and violence around the world, and Collectives programmes in Brazil and Jamaica bringing together multi-sector actors to promote youth development and improve safety across communities.
