We remove carbon in the ocean while improving ocean health and protecting fragile ecosystems from marine heatwaves. We spur algae growth which removes carbon from the ocean, amplifying a natural process without pollution. Our core technology is a revolutionary artificial upwelling device that has 100x the scale of other upwelling devices. This device is like a wind turbine turned on its side and was developed with ARPAE, Otherlab, and UNH.With this design and using only solar and wave power we can remove carbon at $30/tonne.
Impact Story
Our team is made of ocean-lovers. We are scuba divers, windsurfers, kiteboarders, and sailers. We are passionate about saving our oceans for ourselves and future generations. A new economy is emerging around carbon removal, but many of these solutions are heavily engineered and don't contribute to ecosystem restoration. Our technology can remove carbon while improving ecosystems where they are deployed. The upwellwer device can act like a fan to blow cool water onto fragile ecosystems like coral reefs to protect them from marine heatwaves. The device can also help restore collapsed fisheries to ultimately provide jobs in remote communities.
