MIYA makes quality drinking water affordable in urban Africa, while combating plastic pollution. We produce and distribute drinking water in large formats (11L and 19L), exclusively in reuseable jugs. By decentralizing our production facilities and eliminating single-use plastics, we are able to reduce the cost of water / liter by >40% compared to standard solutions in Senegal.
MIYA exists to make quality drinking water more affordable, while combating plastic pollution. Since January 1st 2020, we've distributed >7 million liters of quality drinking water, avoided >3,000km of plastic waste (that's enough to go from Dakar to Lisbon) and saved our clients $300k that they can use on other priorities.
MIYA's work has already created 80 formal full-time jobs, with an engaged team who all started in entry-level positions. Today, our ExCo has an average age of 32 and is has a 50/50 gender balance. Together, we are building the foundations of what will be a major player in the future of water.
